Welcome, and thank you for your interest in video visits at UCSF. Video visits are conducted through MyChart and Zoom. For our patients with visual impairment, both applications are compatible with a variety of screen readers.
MyChart
MyChart is available on a desktop or a mobile device and is compatible with a number of screen readers and accessibility features on each platform.
MyChart via Desktop Browser
All features are supported by screen readers. Depending on which browser you use, the supported screen reader varies:
- Google Chrome: JAWS and NVDA
- Microsoft Edge: JAWS
- Mozilla Firefox: NVDA
- Apple Safari: VoiceOver
MyChart mobile app for iOS
VoiceOver and Zoom are supported in all features, and most features are optimized for use with both. MyChart is optimized with additional text and clues for VoiceOver, and related controls are grouped together when a patient uses accessibility gestures to navigate. All significant information appears in appropriate colors and contrast ratios for patients who are colorblind and patients with moderately low vision.
MyChart mobile app for Android
TalkBack is supported in all features, and all features are optimized for use with TalkBack. Most information appears in appropriate colors and contrast ratios for patients who are colorblind and patients with moderate to low vision.
Zoom
Zoom ensures that its products are operable and perceivable for users with visual impairments. Their products support common screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and Android Talkback. Additionally, visual interfaces are designed with adequate color contrast, size, and usage of color to ensure clarity for users with various vision needs.
